Curbside Recycling

Our community has offered curbside recycling for perhaps 15 years. I have tried to recycle whenever possible. I even took my recyclables to the recycling center in the days before we were provided bins! I have been known to pull plastic containers out of our wastebasket to recycle them. Our communities earn money for all the materials that are recycled. So you help reduce the amount of materials that end up in landfills and you financially benefit your community! Seems like a win-win situation. But then it appears that industrial, commercial, and retail organizations are not participating in any form of recycling. You sometimes see stores throwing away all the cardboard and packing material - all mixed together. One would think they could find a way to separate the different wastes and make sure they get recycled? Perhaps if enough people ask the question, they will take action.

When Grandmother called the family to dinner, she said: "Soup's On!" (When my Grandma served Sunday dinner, it always began with chicken vegetable soup. I love the soup my partner Leslie Wayment sent me! It was full of turquoise and turquoise dyed howlite; my favorite color. In fact it is full of color. I have enough beads to make several more items. I just ordered some special polymer clay beads for a bead soup party that I plan on joining, and I have a few ceramic beads from ceramic artists, so I have made the first steps. Yes, I am a Bead Hoarder! Thanking Lori Anderson for this wonderful challenge: It has gotten me started on creating again, and using what's on hand is a great way to stretch one's design ideas. (So are almost 170 other beaders, LOL. I want to visit all the hoppers and will, but it is taking a while!) First is a necklace from a set of assorted beads already pre-coordinated by Bead Landing. Easy peasy, just need to decide the arrangement and add the spacers. Blue - Copper "Color Splash" Necklace - beads from Michaels I created this first attempt at 'bead weaving' ( I think it is actually netting, if you are getting specific ), while I was on vacation with my family in June.
